A Meditation - How to Get Caught Up In God's Prophetic Slipstream

This week’s service was dedicated to praying for members of our congregation and their ministries. These ministries have been born from prophetic words.

So Ps Rob ended the service with a 12 minute meditation on how we get caught up in the slipstream of prophetic promises over other believers. Likewise, God's prophetic promises over our lives impact the lives of others.

AM - We Must Let The Word of God Sharpen Us

The Word of God Must Sharpen Us

Hebrews 4:12

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Some Sermon Notes

Jesus is the living word. "When we read the word, we are communicating with Jesus."

The Word:

  • brings life to us.

  • is sharp. The Word resets us. It reveals what's from our soul and what is from our Spirit and from God. It sharpens us to hear the prophetic voice of God.

  • will discern of our bodies - the word of God can heal our bodies ("joints and marrow").

Anyone who doesn't read the living Word is "missing out on their spiritual immunity."

The Word reveals whether our thoughts are correct, and reveals our underlying motives.

  • Ask God to show us our motives. "Why am I doing this/that?"

  • 1 John 1

His Word makes us sharper in the prophetic.

  • It helps us sense His plans, His heart, His truth,

Knowing the Word gives us a strong foundation when the world tries to persuade us to accept their beliefs. We won't be swayed to go with the majority.

Hearing the Sunday sermon is insufficient. We must be hiding God's word in our hearts.

AM – Psalm 23 - Part 1 Our Shepherd is Everything We Need

Our Shepherd is Everything We Need

Psalm 23 - Part 1

No situation that we face is too difficult for our God.

In this sermon Ps Rob springboards off of Psalm 23:1 to show us that all of His nature (described by all the names of God that we find throughout the Scriptures) and all that He does are encapsulated in this one overarching aspect of His character - “The Lord is our Shepherd”.

When we call upon His name, we're calling upon all of God's provision and all of His nature.

“Who He is, is [wrapped] up in His Son Jesus. Who He is and what He is, is all yours.”

Rob Clayton

Towards the end of the message, Rob reads out a very cool list of God’s names.

Two brief testimonies are appended to the end of the recording for your encouragement:

  • Credit card bill anonymously paid “Nobody knows where it came from.”

  • Opportunity to witness to man who asked “Is the resurrection real?”

AM – How To Delight In God & Have Your Desires Fulfilled

Ps Rob tells us how to delight in the Lord and have the Lord give us the desires of our heart (Ps 37:4). Rob illustrates his message with the powerful testimony of him and Kaye being shown by God in 1984-85 that the Lord wanted to take them to Israel to live for 2 years.

Psalms 37:4
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
(NIV)

Tune into the final 5 minutes of the message and grab some bread and juice to spend some time worshipping the Lord in communion.

PM – My Story: Andrew Ward's Testimony

Andrew shares stories from his upbringing, from the formative years in his faith, and four watershed moments that have transformed his relationship with God. He opens up frankly about the tormenting, chronic pain of arthritis and how the Lord has helped him to stay deeply in love with Jesus in spite of that pain.

Lastly, he shares some of the practical things that he does to develop greater intimacy with the Lord, to be lead by the Spirit, and to receive multiple infillings of the Holy Spirit’s power.

As you listen, may the Holy Spirit come upon you and envelop you in God’s presence. May He fill you with even more of the Lord’s power. May He cause you to grow more deeply in love with Jesus. Amen
