AM - Building Our Faith Part 2 - We Need People

A discussion about the importance of building our faith in these times, and some steps to help us do that.

In this second of two powerful sermons, Ps Rob talks about how we need people to build our faith. God never intended for Christianity to be done alone. We are part of the household of faith. and called to be connected into the Body of Christ. As living stones, we shape each other as we rub together.

He also elaborates further on the importance of praise for building our faith.

Ps Rob’s challenge to us: Are you allowing God to shape you? Are you allowing God to connect you with people? People build faith in us. Are you connected into the body of Christ?

AM - How To Make Love Your Highest Goal, Not Fear or Back-Biting

The world has gone crazy. Social media is toxic with back-biting posts - so tempting to give them a piece of our mind. And people are neglected as we run around in a frenzy of fear. Fear of viruses. Fear of unemployment. Fear of catastrophe.

In this invaluable message, Naomi Olive speaks to the heart of the craziness in this world. She shows us how to make love our highest goal. Love replaces frenzied fear with calming peace. It enables us to overlook wrongs, and extend grace and kindness. It enables us to participate in our unchanging mission of sharing the Gospel - our enemies need to experience Christ’s love. We are to be love personified.

Key passages:

  • John 15:9-17

  • Matthew 5:43-48

  • 1 John 4:7-21

  • 1 Corinthians 13:13 - 14:1

AM – Faith To Live During These Times

Amongst all the bad news of this world at times we feel like God doesn't hear us. It's okay to question God as to why things aren't happening. Even the prophet Habakkuk had complaints. But then he positioned himself to hear from God.

We need faith to live.

In this message Ps Rob explores faith as he preaches from the book of Habakkuk. Faith is far deeper than just getting our needs met. There’s overcoming faith, the fruit of faith, the gift of faith, the seed of faith that we grow over time. Faith is about trusting in God even when our needs aren't met. It’s trusting in what Jesus says about the situation.

AM - The Promise of the Father - Pentecost 2020

Today is the birthday of the church. It’s Pentecost Sunday 2020! This week Ps Kaye reminded us that God never intended for us to do the Christian life alone (in our own strength). We are to walk through life doing what Jesus did, and receiving God’s promises, with the help of the Holy Spirit’s presence, guidance and power. This is why God gave us Pentecost.

“The Baptism of the Holy Spirit sets us apart from the world. This is a defining characteristic.”

Key Bible passages: Acts 2; Romans 8:5

AM – Are We Singing a Lullaby or Sounding an Alarm?

The times have changed. The signs in our generation suggest that Christ’s return is imminent. But the world is asleep. In this message Ps Rob challenges us to stop lulling people into complacency. We need to:

  1. get our message straight, preaching a clear Gospel that convicts of sin and points to the Cross. Our message needs to be an annoying alarm, not a lullaby.

  2. stop complaining about our hardships and grow up into mature believers.

  3. be adaptable, adjusting our methods to remain effective as the world changes.

The final 8.5 mins of this recording is an update from Ps Rob on the current Level 2 lockdown restrictions on meeting together.

Key scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:16.
